About Me

I am a senior researcher in biomedical informatics, which is the application of computer science, information science and other disciplines to problems in biomedicine. I am professor of Biomedical Informatics at Indiana University and a Research Scientist at the Regenstrief Institute in Indianapolis (http://www.regenstrief.org). I have been teaching and conducting research in informatics since 1987. Our graduate program educates specialists in biomedical informatics at the certificate, MS, PhD and postdoctoral level. As of 2013, I have published one book and over 60 peer-reviewed articles (~30 first author), and presented over 15 posters at national and international conferences. I am a reviewer for several informatics-related journals, and I often peer-review grant applications for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).
